What is Placenta Encapsulation?

Placenta Encapsulation is the practice of preparing the placenta after birth for consumption via capsules.

The two most popular ways to prepare a placenta is the Raw Method or the Traditional Chinese Medicine Method.      The TCM Method involves steaming the placenta with various herbs and spices.  It is then dehydrated for approximately 9 hours, grinded and encapsulated.   This is the most popular method.   It’s a great method but I prefer the Raw Method.   The reason is using the TCM creates Qi or heat.  It is my belief and experience that not every Mother needs that and could cause them to feel a bit off.      I prefer to keep the placenta in it’s most natural state as possible and we can do this by using a technique similar to the Raw Method.

I believe this will save the vital nutrients that make the placenta a wonderful gift for healing during your 4th trimester.  (I like to call the 3 months after birth the 4th trimester)   I then encapsulate the placenta so it is ready for your consumption.
