Honoring the Placenta

Most of my clients are most interested in having their placenta encapsulated for it’s reported benefits.  There are a growing number of clients that are all interested in the honoring the placenta with ancient modernized traditions.

Ancient cultures and even cultures today hold the placenta in great regard.   Some believe it to be the babies twin and some some believe the way you dispose of the placenta will affect the baby life.    Placenta traditions included burying the placenta, cord and amnion jewelry, lotus birth, blessings, remedies, art and more.

I offer my clients a few takes on traditions for them to honor the placenta.

Placenta Art

I use the placenta as a stamp and press it on paper to make a print of the placenta.    The family receives the print and then I also send digital color edits of that original print.    The print can then be framed.

Cord Keepsakes

Every client receives a cord keepsake.   The cord is dried into a shape and can be dyed if that is your wish.   I get asked from time to time what can be done with the cord.   I think they look nice framed in a shadow box along with the placenta print or on it’s own.

Placenta Jewelry

This is definitely not like the ancient tradition of cord and amnion jewelry where they use the actual cord and amnion to make a necklace.     Instead, I use the powdered placenta and mix it with resin to make a bead

I’m looking forward to adding more traditions in the next year.   .
